Join Glasgow Lindy Hoppers, Thursday Night Blues and Glasgow Swing Dance Society as we proudly present this years Christmas party spectacular….Puttin’ on the Glitz!!

Feel free to get all glitzed up and put on your dancing shoes! Time to show off all those moves we’ve been adding to our repertoire this year.

The square closes at 9pm, but don’t worry. We can continue the party at Howling Wolf for some drinks and even more dancing!

6 week beginner lindy hop course – special deal!

Learn to swing dance this winter with Glasgow Lindyhoppers!

Join our 6 week beginner course where we will cover the basics of 8 beat, charleston, and 6 beat lindy hop. And for this special winter deal you can purchase a 6 week block of classes for just £24!

Swing dancing is a term that defines a number of styles including lindy hop, charleston and jazz steps. It originated in jazz clubs in Harlem in the 1920s and was danced through to the 1950s. It is danced all over the world today and is a great way to spend a dreary Monday night.

No need to book in advance, just turn up at Blackfriars on Monday 6th November and purchase your voucher then.

When: Mondays 6th Nov-11th Dec
Time: 7pm
Where: Blackfriars basement, Merchant City
How much: £5 per class, or 6 classes for £24!

Hallowe’en Party

Quick reminder to all that our end of term party is tomorrow, and we are getting into the spirit of the season by having our party Hallowe’en themed!

Prizes for best individual and team costume are available!

Doors are 7:00pm with a 1920’s Charleston Taster Class from Joyce at 7: 30pm showing us how to move flapper style!  Spooktacular social dancing with baking (contributions to the food table, home made or not, are entirely welcome!) will ease us into a wonderful evening!

Sunday Shimmy – October Edition!

This Sunday is second instalment of our newly revamped monthly social – Sunday Shimmy!

Come out for a drink and dance with us in the lovely Epoch (Princes Square).

We will be spinning music suitable for Lindy Hop, Charleston, Shag, Balboa and some Blues. All level of dancers (and non dancey pals) welcome!

Food and a full bar is available. Please support your swing scene’s use of this beautiful venue by purchasing at least a drink, if possible.

Tonight! Free lindy hop taster class followed by live music

Tonight it’s our free beginner taster class in Sloans ballroom!

Whether you’re looking for a new hobby, want to meet people, are eager to strut your stuff on the dance floor or just love the music – this your chance to try swing dancing for free in a fun taster class.

Where: Sloans Ballroom, 108 Argyle St, Glasgow G2 8BG
When: Monday 28th August, 7pm – 8.15pm
How much: Free!

In this taster class we will show you a few basic moves to get you swinging across the floor, and demonstrate the kind of things you could learn by coming to our classes.

The class is aimed at complete beginners, you don’t have to have done any kind of dancing before. No partner required but feel free to bring friends!

After class stick around for a free social dance, including  live music from The Background Sounds!

Join us in Glasgow this August for Level Up! Lindy Hop Workshop from Glasgow Lindyhoppers!

Registrations open Friday 14th July at 9am via DanceCloud: https://glasgowlindy.dancecloud.com/#/events/17036

This workshop will focus on taking your dancing to the next level. Whether you have been dancing for 6 months or 6 years, this is a chance to improve your dancing, to hone your leading and following skills and to get your power bars up to full strength.

With two levels, two sets of teachers and great social dances you should don your plumber overalls, slip on your power sneakers and get ready to Level Up!
